The device will operate in a live state within and no longer than the first 24 hours of registration.
Once you have subscribed you can easily access the app anytime. Simply bookmark, or save to your home screen on your mobile.
Comprehensive installation instructions can be found in the packaging as well as here. Black International do not provide installation as a service for individual purchases, however if the customer is purchasing in bulk or commercially, we can offer installation as an additional service.
The device location capabilities are enabled through GPS and GSM satellite frequencies. Power source is retrieved through the battery voltage from your assets. Communication between the cell towers and your Orchid™ are then filtered through the app to provide you the required info for your assets.
Orchid™ can be wired in to anything that is battery powered, between the voltage of 3.5 VDC and 18 VDC, please note there may be some limitations and exemptions due to asset size and functionality. Asset examples include but are not limited to; power tools, cars, boats, motor bikes, radios, plant and machinery.
There are no limitations to the amount of products/ assets to be listed under one subscription.
GPS co-ordinates will be retrieved and presented so long as the Orchid™ is within range of a cell tower and a signal is able to be sent and received. Please note the signal may be difficult to retrieve if the asset is inside a building or a metal box etc. If a GPS location is not able to be retrieved at the time the GSM tower location will be provided in the interim.
The black wire that is attached to the board on a gold swivel is the antenna; this also has an adhesive sticker on the loose end. The second black (negative) wire partnered with the red (positive) wire will act as the connection to be wired in to the battery power supply of the asset.
The antenna must be placed as flush and straightened as possible against a hard surface, must not penetrated or folded.
Once wired in, if done so correctly a green light will ignite, your device is now live and will request its GPS location.
The Orchid™ will typically respond within a reasonable timeframe and will depend on cellular coverage.
If the Orchid™ is live i.e. has not been disconnected, the device will continue to search for the purchasers asset for up to 72 hours after the location has initially been requested. If not found the purchaser can then request a location again.
Yes, all registered devices can be in ‘requested’ mode at once.
Devices can be added or removed from your subscription via the Black International customer support team. You can however reassign your Orchid to another asset within your own subscription profile.
This means that either the device has been disconnected from the asset power supply or is out of range; therefore we suggest we suggest attempting location again.
Requests are not required to be resent for up to 72 hours after the initial request for location. Once the assets location has been determined the end user will be notified within 30 minutes however if the exact location cannot be found nor is the GSM cell site found, you will then be able to resend another request after the initial 72 hours.
Does the device continue to provide location information if it leaves the country it was purchased in?
The Orchid™ will deliver a location response regardless of where it is in the world, subject to signal availability. The network allows for global frequencies to be accessed and locations established regardless of where the request has been sent from. Response will be dependent on how strong the signal is in the area.

If my asset is stolen and not returned can the person with my goods reuse my purchased tracking device?

The device will be registered against your name and your specific asset on the app which is registered via your personal IMZI number noted upon purchase of the device. The device will send a prompt to Black International that the asset has been used by someone else and Black will then be able to notify the original owner.
